They're unlockables that appear in the Icon Book in the final game.

Are they just sort of a thing to collect when you're done the game?

Well, actually, they appear after completing certain tasks in game. They now appear in the game's menus. For example, here's how to get the first 6, which are on the main menu:
Titagasman: Have a saved file. (Very Easy)
Ancient Block: Turn on an Ancient Block. (Easy)
Skull Acid: Break a Skull Acid Mine (Medium)
Revlis Fruit: Get 100 Revlis Fruits (Easy)
Arrow Cloud: Hit an Arrow Bonus Multiplier after breaking an Arrow Cloud. (Medium)
Bronze Disc: Collect every bronze disc in the game. (Hard)
